Former Kennedy Catholic ice hockey defenseman Steven Santini ’13 was selected by the New Jersey Devils in the 2013 National Hockey League (NHL) Draft on June 30.

Taken with the 12th pick of the second round and 42nd overall, the 6-foot-1, 207-pound Santini will continue his education and play for the Golden Eagles of Boston College in the fall before hitting the ice as a Devil.  The Brewster native was among the area’s best in leading the combined Kennedy Catholic-Putnam Valley team to the playoffs in his two years with the Gaels.

His Kennedy Catholic family couldn’t be prouder of his dedication and courage in leaving the comforts of home to play for the U.S. National Team Development program.  All that hard work and risk has paid off.
