Kennedy Volleyball Leads CHSAA – Bronx/Westchester

Kennedy Volleyball took on Aquinas High School on Tuesday, 9/30/14 at home.  Junior Varsity won in two sets, 25-11 and 25-8.

Varsity won in three sets, 25-9, 25-13 and 25-12.  Aquinas’s defense was on, with strong serve receives and blocks, but Kennedy’s serving and attacks dominated the game.

Kennedy Freshmen Volleyball Suffers First Loss vs. Ridgefield

The Kennedy freshmen volleyball team travelled to Ridgefield, Ct. on Monday and suffered their first loss of the season.  They fought hard in 5 sets, but fell 3-2 in the end.  Set scores were:

Kennedy Volleyball Defeats Preston

Kennedy JV and Varsity Volleyball teams travelled to Preston High School in the Bronx on Friday.  Junior Varsity won in 2 sets, 25-12 and 25-23; and Varsity won in 3 sets, 25-7, 25-12 and 25-9.

Kennedy Varsity Volleyball Volleys for a Cure

 

Kennedy Varsity Volleyball competed in the 11th Annual Panther Invitational at Panas High School on Saturday.  The team played well in pool play, taking second in their pool. They defeated Peekskill, Eastchester and Millbrook and played a competitive match against Clarkstown South, losing 2-0 with 25-22 scores for each set.

Making it into the gold bracket among the top 8 teams (of 20), they faced Connetquot from Long Island, but did not prevail.

There was great volleyball all day and proceeds from the event were being donated to fight pancreatic cancer.

Kennedy Freshmen Volleyball defeated Danbury High School today at home.  They won 2-1.  Set scores were:

Kennedy Freshmen Volleyball continue their winning streak

Kennedy Freshmen Volleyball played Ridgefield High School today at home.  The Gaels swept their opponents in 3 sets, 25-20, 25-9 and 15-13.  The team plays at home on Wednesday, September 24 at 4 pm.  Come out and cheer the Freshmen Gaels on in their last home match for the season.  On Tuesday, the JV and Varsity squads will play Sacred Heart of Yonkers at the Kennedy Gymnasium.  We hope to see you there.

Kennedy Varsity Volleyball Serves Up Another Win

Kennedy volleyball travelled to Our Lady of Good Counsel in White Plains.  The junior varsity fell to Good Counsel in a 2-set struggle: 26-24, 25-23; whereas the varsity team prevailed in 3 sets:  25-10, 25-15, 25-13.  The team had a great serving game, lead by Meagan Gallagher with 16 serves and 2 aces, Katelynn Ryan with 15 serves and 1 ace, Kelly Gallagher with 11  serves and 1 ace.  Kelly Gallagher had 27 assists to aid the attackers lead by Mary Helen Baudinet with 8 kills, Katelynn Ryan with 7 kills and Mary Burns with 6 kills.  Megan Erb (13 serve receives and 4 digs) and Caroline Tompkins (3 serve receives and 4 digs) lead the defense.  The teams will play at home on Tuesday, September 23rd, facing Sacred Heart.

Kennedy Alumna, Anni Abbruzzese, NECC Rookie of the Week

CAMBRIDGE, Mass. – Lesley University freshman Anni Abbruzzese (Croton on Hudson, N.Y.) has been named New England Collegiate Conference Women’s Volleyball Rookie of the Week. NECC Assistant Commissioner for Communications, Roger Crosley, made the announcement this morning in the conference Weekly Report. Abbruzzese has powered the Lesley offense as she led the team to a perfect 4-0 week, including picking up a pair of wins at a tri-match with St. Joseph’s College (Me.) and Mt. Ida College this past Saturday.
