Mr. Fred Katz
Here is a little bit about me and my work here at Kennedy Catholic –
The school year of 2011-12 is my 12th year at Kennedy Catholic High School. It is also my seventh year as Chair of the Social Studies Department.
This year, I am teaching the following courses:
Advanced Placement United States Government & Politics
Global History & Geography II Honors
Economics (first semester only)
American Government (second semester only)
I have posted the Syllabus for each of my courses below on this webpage, except that the Syllabus for the American Government course will be posted in time for the second semester.
The AP course in United States Government & Politics is also eligible for six course credits (the equivalent of two classes) from Iona College, under Iona’s Link Program.

I am currently involved in two major extracurricular activities at Kennedy:
I am the Chapter Advisor for Kennedy’s chapter of the National Honor Society. As such, I chair the Faculty Council will chooses new members of the NHS, and I coordinate the peer tutoring program in which NHS members provide tutoring to other Kennedy students. This is my ninth year as Chapter Advisor.
I am also in my third year as Faculty Advisor for Gael Winds, the student newspaper here at Kennedy Catholic. I hope you will read our paper when it is published throughout the school year. Hard copies of the paper are available at school, and the paper can also be accessed (in spectacular color) on the Kennedy website.

As you may know, in a prior career I was a practicing attorney. Most of my work was as a corporate lawyer.
I am also an avid supporter of various student extracurricular activities at Kennedy, especially the sports program and the theater program.
