We are pleased to announce that Kathleen Tucker and Mackenzie Feehan seniors at Kennedy Catholic High School and Brewster Girl Scouts earned the Girl Scout Gold Award during this past summer.  The Gold Award is the highest award in Girl Scouts that less than 5 percent of girls nationwide earn.  The award entails years of badge work, career exploration, community awareness and service and ends with a large scale community based project.

Kathleen’s project, “Bracelets for Hope”, consisted of leading youth groups and her peers in creating bracelets for cancer patients.  Hundreds of bracelets have been made and donated to area hospitals.

Mackenzie, through a series of children’s reading programs and community book collections, built a children’s lending library for the Astor Home in Poughkeepsie.  Astor Services For Children & Families is a community based, non-profit organization that provides children’s mental health services, child welfare services, and early childhood development programs.

Please join us in congratulating Kathleen and Mackenzie for earning the Girl Scout Gold Award.
