Danielle Asaro – Marist Track and Field

Congratulations to Alumna Danielle Asaro who, as a freshman, tied Marist College’s Indoor Track record for the 60 meter dash.  The following information comes from Marist College’s athletic website.

NEW HAVEN, Conn. – Freshman Danielle Asaro tied the school record in the 60-meter dash, leading the Marist women’s indoor track and field team at the Yale Season Opener on Saturday.

Asaro ran 8.27 seconds in the preliminaries, tying a record initially set by Marissa Artiano in 2004. In the finals, she ran 8.28 seconds to claim eighth place.

We look forward to seeing more great things from you, Danielle.  Keep up the good work!

Also… I was just informed that Marist Sophomore, Jesse Aprile, broke the 200 meter record last spring.  Our apologies to you Jesse for not knowing sooner. The following information comes from Marist College’s athletic website.

LAWRENCEVILLE, N.J. – Marist senior Conor Shelley (Rockville Centre, N.Y.) placed third in the 5,000 meters, and freshman Jesse Aprile (Yorktown, N.Y.) set the school record in the 200-meter dash on the final day of the Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference (MAAC) Outdoor Track & Field Championships on Sunday, held at Rider University.

Aprile’s record time of 22.78 seconds earned him sixth place in the 200. He was also part of a 4 X 100 relay team which also included sophomore Darren Bushey (Pittsfield, Mass.), junior Michael McCloskey (Latham, N.Y.) and freshman Connor Dodge (North Tonawanda, N.Y.) which placed third in a time of 43.40, which missed a school record by seven-hundredths of a second.
