SAT Practice Makes Perfect for Kennedy Juniors

Kennedy Catholic juniors and sophomores take a practice SAT.

All 139 Kennedy Catholic juniors were in the gym today, but not for an extended physical education class. Rather, the Guidance Department, in a first-ever initiative, scheduled a practice SAT for the soon-to-be-seniors.

Working with The Princeton Review, Guidance proctored a full SAT and the exams will be graded and evaluated. Students and parents will receive the scores back, as well as an evaluation of strengths, weaknesses and other college related information, on Feb. 6 from 7 – 8:30 p.m. Guidance will also be offering students the opportunity to enroll in the SAT prep class, led by The Princeton Review, here at Kennedy.

A practice SAT differs slightly in format and structure from PSAT exams. Guidance Director Samantha Black said she hopes the juniors will have a better understanding of how they will score on the real exams in the Spring. The initiative has been well received by parents thus far, as their children are now exposed to the challenges they will face when sitting for the “real thing” and see how their GPAs match up with their performance on standardized tests.
