The boys varsity basketball team opened its first season in the Catholic High School Athletic Association (CHSAA) by reeling off three straight victories en route to a 3-1 start heading into this Sunday’s 2:45 p.m. showdown in Somers against Bishop Ford.

The Gaels opened the season with a drubbing of Salesian, 67-42, on Nov. 22.  Dom Cristiano lead the way with 20 points and Sean Delaney added 13 of his own.  Then on the evening of Reunion 2013 (Nov. 30), the boys did the alumni proud with a 79-54 win over Moore Catholic.  Cristiano again led the Gaels with 23 points, while Sean Delaney, Kevin Buron and Dan Cruz had 15, 13 and 10 points, respectively.

Cristiano continued his scoring onslaught in December with 25 points to go along with 10 rebounds in a 71-47 win over St. John’s Prep on Dec. 6.  Delaney was in the mix again with 16 points and 10 boards, while Buron recorded 9 points and 13 rebounds.  Defending City Champs Monsignor Scanlon handed the Gaels its only loss on Dec. 8, 58-65.

Congratulations to the boys on an excellent start to the season.  The Gaels have two more home games this month, so download the schedule or visit our Calendar to subscribe to the entire Kennedy athletic schedule.
