Kennedy storms past Fordham Prep with big second quarter

After trailing at the end of the first quarter by nine points, Kennedy Catholic’s varsity boys basketball team exploded in the second quarter, outscoring Fordham Prep 26-2 on its way to a commanding 70-53 win at home on Saturday, Jan. 3.

Malachi de Sousa (seven rebounds) and Dom Cristiano led the Gaels with 17 points apiece. Elijah Hughes added 14 points and Sean Delaney chipped in 11 points.

Kennedy, which is ranked seventh in New York State in Class A, stayed unbeaten with the win and improved to 9-0.

The Gaels return to the court on Thursday, Jan. 8 when they host Monsignor Scanlan at 5 p.m.
