Boys Lacrosse Wins State Title

First time for Kennedy Catholic Men’s lacrosse to win the CHSAA City & State title in Lacrosse.

Under the leadership of Coach Nick Savastano & Coach Vin Savastano the Varsity men’s lacrosse team beat Monsignor Farrell on their home field with a 2.9 goal by Senior Captain #14 Gerard Martirano to win the City title, 8-7, and bringing the state championship title game back to our home field against Saint Mary’s of Manhasset. The Mighty Gaels won the state title with a 15-1 win. Our Gaels came out winners all around, Our Senior Captain #14 Gerard Martirano won CHSAA Midfielder of the year and All- League along with brother and co-captain #7 Will Martirano who also won All-League. Our three other captains #2 Ryan Podlovits, #27 Tucker Clair and #4 Brian Devey won All-League along with attack #36 Alex Souza. As everyone knows you can’t win games without defense – our three defenders #1 Al Cantarella, #13 Nico Quartironi, & #23 Brennan Melchiori all won All-League 2nd Team.We also have an up and coming freshman midfielder #11 Henry Flocco who won All-League Honorable Mention. Although we have 6 seniors leaving our team we believe we still have a strong team and look forward to competing in the Spring of 2016.
