One of the most wonderfully unique aspects of Kennedy Catholic High School is how the pride and influence that originates within stretches far beyond the brick walls in Somers, NY. There is no one more exemplary of this than our very own, Father Mark Vaillancourt, who ardently represented Kennedy at Oxford University in England this summer. Not only was he one of 800 world-renowned scholars present and speaking at the conference, he is one of the top contributors to a book from the conference regarding the Church’s doctrine of Transubstantiation and the Eucharist. He conducted a historical survey regarding how the Church developed this doctrine, complete with his own research of the original Latin texts from libraries at Oxford, Fordham, and St. Joseph’s Seminary. The work will be formally dedicated to the newly renovated Kennedy Catholic library sometime this November. From his experience at Oxford and this dedication, he hopes that “we at Kennedy, would see that this library here…would be a place where students feel welcome to come, study, enhance their pursuits of learning, and open their mind to the truth.” It is an immense honor to have such a scholar and leader, like Father Vaillancourt representing our community both to Westchester and to the world.
