Problems at Chipotle: By Megan Berglund ’19
Within the past few months, the food chain, Chipotle, has been linked to many E. Coli infections discovered in Washington and Oregon. There are around 42 known cases of this incident, some of which led to hospitalization. All of the affected people reported that they had eaten Chipotle around the time of their infections.
Due to this incident, Chipotle temporarily closed down the restaurants where the E. Coli infections could be traced back to. Chipotle is performing tests in attempt to find the cause of this outbreak. They have been testing fresh produce, raw meat, and dairy items. Even with all of the testing, they are still unsure as to what the initial stimulus was.
The restaurants that were linked to these issues have recently reopened and the owners assured customers that there is nothing to worry about and that they are taking extra precautions to prevent this issue from happening again. They state that it is, once again, safe to eat at these locations, and all other of the Chipotle restaurants.
