David KeoghThe Heart of a Giant program, sponsored by USA Football and the Hospital for Special Surgery, recognizes and rewards Tri-State area (NY, NJ, CT) high school football players who demonstrate unparalleled work ethic and passion for the game.  Our own Kennedy Junior QB David Keogh has been selected as a week 1 nominee and is competing against 9 other players for on-line votes and the opportunity to go own to the next level of the competition.  The grand prize winner is recognized on the field at a home Giants game and receives $5,000 in sports equipment for his high school.

Nick DiGrandi Meets Pope Francis

Following up from a previous post, Senior Nick DiGrandi had the opportunity to meet Pope Francis while His Holiness was in New York City. Nick was one of 12 students chosen to meet Pope Francis. After the meeting, Nick was one of three (of the 12) students to meet Anderson Cooper for an interview.

6 Students Earn National Merit Commendation

Congratulations to Silvana Acierno, Kenneth Brown, Matthew Carney, Danielle Galvao, Rose Grosskopf, and Max Jarcho who earned commendations from the National Merit Foundation.


Commended Students throughout the nation have been recognized for their exceptional academic promise.  Commended Students placed among the top five percent of the more than 1.5 million students who entered the 2013 competition by taking the 2011 Preliminary SAT/National Merit Scholarship Qualifying Test (PSAT/NMSQT).

“Recognizing academically talented students plays a fundamental role in the advancement of educational excellence within our nation,” commented an NMSC spokesperson.  “The young people recognized as Commended Students represent some of the best and brightest minds in the country as demonstrated by their outstanding performance in our highly competitive program.  We sincerely hope this recognition will provide them with additional educational outlets and motivate them in their pursuit of academic achievement.”

Golf scrimmage on Thursday, Oct. 16

The golf team will have a scrimmage on Thursday, Oct. 16 after school. All team members and those who are interested in joining the team should see Mr. Rosich this week to confirm their attendance. The school bus will be available to transport those who need a ride.


A note from the Athletic Director

Father Vaillancourt recently sent a letter requesting your support for the upcoming Kennedy Kash raffle. Father notes that all proceeds from the raffle will be used to build a new track here at Kennedy. This project is scheduled to happen within the coming year. I also ask that you participate in the Kennedy Kash raffle. Your involvement in the raffle will allow the continued improvement of the Kennedy Catholic athletic facilities. Kennedy Driver’s Ed Program – Mandatory Meeting, Sept. 25th, 3 pm

The Kennedy Catholic High SchoolDriver’s Education Program will begin the week of September 29th.  It will be conducted for 16 weeks.  The registration form is available in the main office.  Participants must have a valid driving permit as of September 26th.  A mandatory 90-minute orientation meeting will be held on September 25th at 3 pm in Room 100.
