This Kennedy Catholic Class of 2020 celebrated a graduation they are not likely to forget – complete with jumbotron screens, large audio amplifiers, and a parking lot full of their friends, family, faculty, and classmates.
When the graduating seniors and their families arrived at St. Joseph’s Church, they found a parking space from which they watched the ceremony taking place inside of the building. One by one each senior was called forward by the waiting Kennedy administration and entered the sanctuary with his or her family.
Gael Pride, Pomp, and Circumstance
When the seniors and their families entered the church and received their diplomas, a camera and audio crew caught the procession and simulcast video out to the two jumbotron screens in the parking lot. Family members that were not in attendance were able to watch the event via livestream. Videos and photos are still available for viewing on the Kennedy website.
The opening remarks, the Invocation by Virgina Capellupo, and the Salutatorian speech by Daviel Savino were delivered live from inside the church and simulcast to the displays outside and to the live stream.
An Ending to Remember
After the conferral of diplomas, Valedictorian Dorrian Cohen wove humor and sentiment in a speech that concluded with “…and this has been Kennedy Live!” in a nod to the broadcast equipment that allowed the event to take place. The Director of Advancement, Fred Compton, welcomed the Class of 2020 into the Alumni Association and President Father Mark Vaillancourt honored the class’ success as well as their perseverance.
At the conclusion of the ceremony, the now Kennedy Alumni and their families were invited to the school’s campus to take photographs near the sports fields, the lake, and in front of the school.
