Football Home Opener

This Saturday, September 3, at noon, is opening day for the Kennedy Catholic Gaels football team with a home game against Holy Trinity from Long Island.  Our first night game will be on Friday, September 9 at 7 pm against Mount Saint Michael of the Bronx.

Our players have trained hard in the several weeks of practice over the summer, and are excited to face the challenge.  While practice officially started a few weeks ago, the highlight of summer training was several days and nights at sleep away camp, practicing from sunrise to sunset.  There were defensive drills, offensive drills, tackling drills, and conditioning.  Every aspect of the game, including but not limited to punts, punt returns, and extra points were practiced and improved.  Obviously, the preparation for the season did not stop when camp ended with practice continuing at Kennedy with weight room training, film analysis, and general preparation for the season.

Our coaches have meticulously planned for the season; studying plays and devising strategies.  The coaches and players have worked hard and sacrificed a lot of time to ensure we have the best chance of winning big in the months ahead.

Everyone associated with the football program is excited for this season.  The team had a good scrimmage against Saint Francis Prep of Queens and are ready to face our next opponent.  Saint Francis Prep saw for themselves the power of our linemen, the skill of our quarterbacks, the talent of our receivers, and the overall strength of our team.  The team has worked hard and are ready to win.

Come out on Saturday to support the team and wear your Kennedy colors.

GO GAELS!
