Fencing Comes to Kennedy Catholic

In partnership with Thrust Fencing Academy, Kennedy Catholic has launched a new program for its students. An Olympic sport, fencing is growing in popularity in secondary schools around the country, and this program makes a first in the history of the school. The program offers enhanced development of eye hand coordination, coupled with a fun action-packed environment.

According to Coach Mika’il Sankofa, “fencing enhances stamina, flexibility and overall body strength.” Many of the most prestigious colleges and universities have fencing teams, and the school’s new program hopes to be a pathway for students looking to get into the best universities and obtain scholarships. But for now, according to one of the students, “it’s just a lot of fun!”

Coach Mika’il Sankofa is a three-time US Olympian, 4-time NCAA Champion and a graduate of New York University. To learn more, go to www.thrustfencingacademy.com
