“Framed Memories: The Art of Our Journey”

Grace Chae, Kenndy Catholic Preparatory School Class of 2025

This year’s annual Art Show, led by Mrs. Glembotzky, was a meaningful celebration of creativity
across grades 10 through 12. The school hallways were transformed into a gallery, filled with the
hard work and imagination of students who spent months developing their artistic voice.

For seniors, this show held a particularly special place in our hearts. Each of us had the chance
to design a personal display board, curating our own mini-exhibition that reflected not only our
artistic growth, but also the memories and identities we’ve shaped over the past few years. It
was more than just a project—it was a way to tell our stories through art.

One highlight of this year’s show was a collaborative sculpture project by the senior class. In
connection with the school’s Christmas concert, we created a life-sized reindeer using
paper-mâché with traditional Korean materials like hanji and bamboo. Displayed during both the
concert and the exhibit, the sculpture stood as a symbol of how different art forms can come
together to create something truly special.

What makes the Kennedy Catholic art program so unique is how many opportunities it offers for
students to explore beyond the basics—whether it’s sculpture, fiber art, digital media, or
installation. We’re encouraged to try new things, take creative risks, and express ourselves in
ways that feel personal and powerful.

This year’s show was also held alongside the spring musical, making it an even richer
celebration of the arts at Kennedy. Seeing visual and performing arts come together so naturally
reminded me of just how vibrant and creative our school community really is.

As a senior, this final art show was a moment of reflection and pride. Kennedy Catholic has
given me a place to grow not just as an artist, but as a person. I’ll always remember this
experience with gratitude—and I hope future students continue to share their passions and
leave their mark through the arts, just as we did.
