Response to the Coronavirus – March 13, 2020

–For Immediate Release–

Hello Kennedy Catholic Community,

Kennedy Catholic Crest ColorFollowing the guidelines of the Superintendent of Schools for the Archdiocese of New York, Kennedy Catholic is currently closed, and will remain closed through Friday March 20th. So that our students don’t fall behind in their studies, our online instruction will commence on Monday March 16th. We will keep our families updated throughout the week as we closely monitor the situation. Please know that the health and safety of our families is our first priority.

The New York City Catholic High School Athletic Association (CHSSA) has also suspended all Spring sports until further notice.

Steps to take regarding Coronavirus

With all the information being presented in the media regarding the situation with area school districts and institutions, we want to let you know at this time we have no confirmed cases of Coronavirus among our community. Please be advised regarding our institution’s approach in protecting the health and safety of our students, faculty, staff, and guests specifically related to the Coronavirus:

First – Administration has been monitoring the status of the Coronavirus within our environs via the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, New York State Health Department, Westchester County Health Department, New York State Department of Education, and the Archdiocese of New York’s School Superintendent’s Office.

Second – Working with our professional partner, Crystal Blue Cleaning Services, we have adopted an enhanced cleaning protocol.  We’ve increased the size of the onsite cleaning team to assist with comprehensive disinfection practices on the most likely and common surfaces that could contribute to the spread of any virus, not just Conoravirus.

Please keep in mind that Corona Virus studies are showing that younger people may have a mild illness and may not show a fever, shortness of breath, or more severe symptoms that older people are exhibiting. If they have Corona Virus they can pass this on to others unknowingly and possibly to older people who may become very ill. If your child is ill, talk to your doctor for instructions.

Please take this seriously

Please remain vigilant in your personal protection from this virus.  The links below will be helpful to you:
