Robotics Team Hosts First Tournament

We, the Kennedy Gaels Robotics Team, were thrilled to host the Clash at Kennedy VEX Robotics Tournament this past Saturday! With 25 teams in attendance, including new teams Fordham Prep Rams and Hidden Network, we were honored to welcome everyone to our home field.

Both our A and B teams performed exceptionally well, with our B team ranking 2nd and our A team ranking third, both teams achieving a 6-1 record. The final match was a nerve-wracking experience, with our A alliance facing off against our B alliance. In the end, our A alliance, partnered with Mount Academy in Esopus, New York, emerged as the Tournament Champions with a 29-point difference. Meanwhile, our B alliance, partnered with Harvey School in Katonah, New York, became the Tournament Finalists.

In addition to our impressive performance on the field, our A team also received the Excellence Award, recognizing our outstanding performance across multiple categories, including rankings, skills, notebook, and interview. Congratulations are in order for all teams who received awards, including the honorable mention of team 2156X Hidden Network, who won the Amaze Award. Kudos to them for their fast construction and dedication.

On behalf of the Kennedy Gaels Robotics Team, thank you to all the Southern New York State Teams who participated in our first-ever tournament, and for helping to spread the STEM Robotics Program here at Kennedy Catholic. We are especially grateful for the support of Kennedy Catholic Preparatory School and the coaches, Mrs. and Mr. Achim, Mr. Pollack, CJ Achim, Kennedy Gaels Robotics Parents, as well as KCPS Student Volunteers. The event would not have been possible without their help. A special thanks also go out to the photographers, Mr. Compton, Amoy Watt ’24, Lucas Hung ’24, and Mrs. Pollack, for capturing all the memorable moments.

We are now gearing up for our next tournament, the VCAT VRC Tournament at Vaughn College on February 11th. We are excited to continue showcasing our skills and spreading our love for STEM and Robotics.
