Soccer Program Soars

by Michael Horan, Class of 2027

It’s the end of the fall and you know what that means, playoffs. Specifically, the boys and girls soccer playoffs. Despite a lackluster start of a season, Varsity Boys Soccer has bounced back tremendously. They started the season without winning for 4 straight games, including a devastating loss to St. Joseph by the Sea 5-0. After shaking the dust from their start, Kennedy has gone 6-3-1 due to tremendous play from seniors Alejandro Velez, Nicholas Cardarelli, and Massimo Chiulli, and outstanding play from sophomore goalkeepers Jake Vanga and Stephen Moore. Also, we can’t discredit great play from juniors Joel Lopez, Fernando Paredes, and Jonathan Macas. They faced St. John’s Prep in the quarterfinals of the playoffs on Wednesday. The boys fought hard but lost in penalty kicks.

On the other hand, the girls team had gone 5-2-3. This has been due to good play by captains Lauren Fox, Maggie Gordineer, both seniors, and Bella Lofaro, a junior. They fought hard in the Semi Finals against Notre Dame Academy but fell 4 to 2.
