KC Football Beats Cardinal Spellman 32-22

SOMERS, NY – Kennedy Catholic Prep Varsity Football travelled to the Bronx to face off against Cardinal Spellman High School Saturday, September 25, 2021. The Pilots maintained control for the first half of the game, but the Gaels took back control after half time and won 32-22.

Sophomore Chris Kalle of Thornwood had 26 carries, rushed 207 yards, and scored 2 touchdowns. Junior Anthony Castaldi of Wappingers Falls had 18 carries, rushed 135 yards, and scored 1 touchdown. Castaldi was 4-5 for passing, for a total of 30yds and 1 touchdown.

Senior Luke Gerstner of Carmel 3-3 PAts, and 32yd FG. Junior Luis Garcia of Hopewell Junction INT and Senior Bobby Piesco of Mohegan Lake had 1 sack.

Coach Dominick Tassone is proud of his team, “they’ve put in the work over the last month and half to prepare for a game like this, and they were able to enjoy the fruits of their labor. The offensive line played with a purpose and our running backs gained confidence with every carry. This win sets us off in the right direction going forward for the rest of the season.”

This victory follows Senior Nick Mittag of Ossining receiving recognition as a Player of the Week by the New York Catholic High School Football League.

The Gaels look to keep their momentum rolling this Friday, October 1st at 7pm when they host Holy Cross at Kennedy Catholic Prep in Somers, NY.
