Anthony Torchia: Helping To Make A Difference!

Anthony Torchia…  He’s at it again, helping to make a difference.  Last weekend he completed a walk to raise money for Maria Fareri Children’s hospital and Anthony has set a lofty goal to raise $10,000 for the hospital that saved his life.  For those of you who do not know his story, he writes:

On June 26, 2011 my life was changed forever.  I was in a traumatic ATV accident and was immediately taken to Westchester Medical Center.  I was found to have 4 skull fractures, 4 broken ribs, a fractured pelvis, shattered spleen and internal bleeding.  After 4 blood transfusions and 2 weeks in ICU at Maria Fareri I started my road to recovery.  The doctors and nurses took unbelievable care of me for a total of 3 weeks.  I left the hospital 42 lbs. lighter but with an appreciation for life and the need to give back to those who helped save my life.  With the help of family and friends on August 20, 2011 and again on December 16, 2011, “Anthony’s Drive to give back” collected a total of 144 units of blood for the New York Blood Center.  That show of love and compassion inspired me to start “Anthony’s Walk to give back” team to benefit Maria Fareri Children’s Hospital.  The most important thing I want you to know about Maria Fareri Children’s Hospital is that it is the premiere pediatric hospital in the entire Hudson Valley Region.  None of us know when tragedy might strike. But thanks to the caring and talented medical and nursing staff, miracles happen each day at Maria Fareri Childrens Hospital at Westchester Medical Center.
