Our Vision Statement
The St. Mary’s-Kennedy Catholic tradition has been providing a quality, Catholic education to the people of Northern Westchester and Putnam counties for the better part of a century. But what will that mean for future generations of Gaels?
It means maintaining a strong Catholic identity as evidenced by four years of instruction in theology, a strong sacramental life, contemplative retreat programs and a Christian Community Service program that enables students to use their God-given talents to live out Christ’s message. It means a vibrant and structured student life, ensuring that Kennedy Catholic will continue to be a bastion of academic excellence, athletic achievement and faith formation for years to come.
Such excellence will be achieved through new initiatives such as the St. John’s University College Advantage Program, which gives students the opportunity to choose from 44 college credits per year, as well as requiring a language other than English for all four years. Planned improvements to the Science Department will include college-level physics, advanced chemistry, general engineering and general physics for seniors. Through a more comprehensive PSAT/SAT prep program, Kennedy Catholic will graduate a higher number of Advance Regents Diplomas and more National Merit Scholars. From the liberal arts to the physical sciences, with teachers who have a master’s or better in their disciplines, the new Kennedy Catholic will provide a quality education for a diverse student population.
The Gaels will also maintain its athletic prowess—nine league titles and one state champion in the past two years—including one cross-country and four track and field league crowns this year alone. Kennedy also boasts a performing arts program with more than 12 Youth Theatre Award nominations in the past four years and three in 2009, which makes Kennedy one of the finest in the area.
Through the fundraising efforts of the Advancement Office and newly-formed Family Association, Kennedy Catholic will not only bridge the gap between tuition and operating expenses, but establish an endowment that provides for state-of-the-art equipment and technology, a safe and serene learning environment, and ultimately, the future success of your sons and daughters.
No matter what road our students take, Kennedy Catholic will take them there, and we have the vision to prove it.
