Weather Delays

Students will not be penalized for missing classes due to closings/delays in their home districts.

Kennedy Catholic prides itself on its ability to keep your child academically connected to school even while outside the classroom.  With Kennedy’s growing regional appeal to students traveling from a distance, this means Kennedy can keep your child linked to academic resources as well as safe at home in the event of inclement weather.

Kennedy Catholic is always open in inclement weather despite possible delayed openings in neighboring school districts (i.e., when area districts report a delay because local road conditions are unsafe for travel).  Because Kennedy Catholic is comprised of students coming from so many school districts, we must always remain open to accommodate those students whose districts are not experiencing a delay.  In that case, students should follow the ruling of their local districts.  If weather is so severe that classes are canceled all together, you will receive an IRIS alert at the contact phone numbers/email you provided to the school on the parental/guardian contact information and a notification will be posted on the school website.

The KCHS shuttle buses will also follow the districts delay schedule in which they pick up.  For example, the shuttle bus, which picks up at St.Columba and St.Mary’s, will follow the Wappinger Falls Central School District delay schedule.  The shuttle from the Goldens Bridge Train Station will continue to pick up at the regular scheduled time but will also make additional trips later in the morning if there are delays in districts south of the train station.  District school delays and closings can be heard on WHUD 100.7 FM radio or found on lohud.com.

We remind our student drivers to avoid potentially unsafe road conditions by not traveling in inclement weather.  Our priority is your safety and well-being.
