On his first full day of classes, freshman John LaMagna of Ossining got quite a surprise.  Following Communion, Father Vaillancourt called LaMagna up to the altar as the recipient of the 2012 Marc Napolitano Freshmen Scholarship.  With Mr. & Mrs. Napolitano looking on, as well as Marc’s sister, Nicole ’13, LaManga accepted the award to a warm round of applause from his new schoolmates.  The $750 award, named in memory of the 2008 graduate who died tragically in an automobile accident in 2010, seeks to recognize  an incoming freshman who embodies the characteristics of respect, trustworthiness, responsibility, caring and fairness, as Marc did.

The scholarship is made possible through donations by the friends and family of Marc Napolitano ’08.  A $2,000 scholarship, sponsored by Crown Awards of Elmsford, is given in Marc’s memory to a graduating senior each year at Commencement.  To make a donation to the Marc Napolitano ’08 Freshmen Scholarship, please visit our Gael Giving page.
