Hoops for Hope Saturday, Dec. 20

Kennedy Catholic will host the eighth annual Maureen’s Hoops for Hope at 6:00 p.m. on Saturday, December 20 in the Kennedy Catholic gymnasium. Watch as Kennedy Catholic students, alumni, faculty, friends and family compete in a 5-on-5 basketball tournament!

The event honors Maureen McAvoy, who was a member of the Kennedy Class of 2006. In October 2007 she died after a long and brave battle against brain cancer. Among the tournament’s organizers is Maureen’s sister, Siobhan, a 2007 graduate of Kennedy.

There will be a 50-50 along with plenty of food available, including 6-foot heros, pasta and desserts. An $8 suggested donation is requested at the door and t-shirts will be sold for $12.

All money raised goes directly to the Memorial Sloan Kettering Brain Cancer Research Center. Over the years, the participants have raised more than $40,000 and have been officially recognized for their donations by Memorial Sloan Kettering Hospital for the past three years!

If you would like to sign up and create a team, please contact Siobhan McAvoy by phone at 845-729-9667 or email at mcavoysiobhan@gmail.com . Also, if you cannot attend and still would like to donate please contact Siobhan.

We hope to see you all there to celebrate the life of Maureen McAvoy and support our fight to beat childhood cancer!
