This past weekend, freshman Jessica Kendzor Lehigh University and Kennedy Catholic graduate of the class of 2010, ran in her first NCAA Regional Cross Country Championships. Once you advance to regionals, the distance goes up for both men and women. For the women, the jump goes from 5k to 6k and for men, it goes from 8k to 10k.
“Also cracking the top 100 was senior Andrea Mascaro (64th, 22:27), freshman Jessica Kendzor (68th, 22:33), freshman Katherine Howley (78th, 22:42) and senior Kaitlin Grimm (85th, 22:47). Freshman Hannah Pierce and senior Alexis Williams rounded out a strong top-to-bottom finish for the Mountain Hawks, with times of 23:30 and 23:33, respectively” (Here is a link to the whole article)
We are really proud of you, Jessica. Keep up the great success!
Jessica’s bio on the Lehigh Athletics Page
** Jessica’s father sent us this update.
“On Saturday, Jessica placed 3rd on the Lehigh team and 67th overall in the NCAA Regionals to help Lehigh to 9th place out of 33 teams, just ahead of Breeda’s Navy:) There were some great runners there. Last year’s NYS champion Emily Lipari finished 13th, 5th for her Villanova team. Villanova (#1 in the country), Georgetown (5th in the country), Princeton (a USA top 20), and ranked Penn State are 4 of the teams that beat Lehigh. Proportionally, Jess is running about 40 seconds faster than her state run where she finished 10th!”
