Catholic Schools Art Contest

What is it?

The first Feeding Our Neighbors Campaign was announced last year by Cardinal Dolan, in response to the continued high demand for food and dwindling supplies at Food Pantries. Through the efforts of our schools, parishes and agencies, during Feeding Our Neighbors we raised over 575,000 mealsOur message resonated: No hungry neighbor should be turned away– Catholic and non-Catholic alike.

Throughout the Archdiocese, we will again hold a Feeding Our Neighbors Campaign the week of January 27 – February 3, 2013.  This year, we hope to raise funds and food for one million meals.

Cardinal Dolan will announce the Campaign at the annual distribution of Thanksgiving meals at Catholic Charities’ Kennedy Memorial Center in Harlem this November.  He will also unveil the Feeding Our Neighbors 2013 Poster.  YOUR drawing could helps raise awareness of hunger and the need for meals in the Archdiocese!

Art Contest Participants

Each Catholic school in the Archdiocese may submit THREE drawings from among all of their students participating in the art contest.  ONE winner will be chosen from all school submissions.


Only submissions in pen, pencil, crayon, markers, colored pencils, paint will be accepted.  Each art piece should be the student’s original artwork submitted on 8 1/2 x 11 white paper.  Each art piece must be accompanied by a submission/release form, include the Feeding Our Neighbors logo and be received by the Superintendent’s Office no later than October 31, 2012.

The picture should depict What you or your community can do to relieve Hunger through the Feeding Our Neighbors Campaign’ and include the Feeding Our Neighbors Logo.


A committee of Archdiocesan staff will select ONE winner from all submissions as the poster for the Feeding Our Neighbors 2013 Campaign.  All three students whose art was selected for submission in the Arch-wide contest will be invited to attend an art exhibition at the end of the Campaign at the New York Catholic Center.  The winner, in addition to having his/her poster displayed, will also win a special prize.  Two runner-ups will also receive prizes.
