Junior Juliana Gullotta running NYC Half-Marathon for cancer patients, families

Juliana Gullotta ’14 has begun training to run the 13.1 miles of the 2013 NYC Half-Marathon on March 17, 2013. The junior is a member of Team Continuum, which doubles as a charity that helps cancer patients and their families deal with everyday financial burdens so that they can keep their focus on recovery.

Her goal is to raise $2,000 or more by race day. Many of the requests for assistance Team Continuum receives tell the same heartrending story: ordinary people who are healthy, happy and productive one day, suddenly find themselves with a cancer diagnosis and undergoing treatment. Unable to work. Limited or no medical coverage. Struggling to pay the rent, feed their families, buy birthday presents for their kids. And all the while trying to cope with cancer and get better.

Gullotta is running to help Team Continuum pay the bills for cancer patients’ immediate and vital non-medical needs.  With each step, she is bringing the charity one step closer to its goal of never having to turn a family away because it is short on funds.

Those wishing to sponsor Gullotta’s run can make a tax-deductible donation through her personal fundraising page. While the junior goes the 13.1 miles, Gullotta said donations will also go a long way toward helping Team Continuum reach its goal.
