About Kennedy Catholic Preparatory School

Kennedy Catholic Preparatory School has maintained a visible presence in Catholic education for over 50 years. Our school sits on a sprawling 64-acre campus in the bucolic town of Somers, NY, and stands as both a geographic and socioeconomic microcosm of the 48 New York State school districts (plus Connecticut) represented in our student population of 680 students.

Founded in 1966 as the successor to St. Mary’s High School in Katonah, Kennedy Catholic has continued to serve the educational needs of young men and women seeking a Christian, faith-driven academic setting in northern Westchester.

As a four-year college preparatory school enriched and enlivened by its Catholic identity, Kennedy helps form and deliver well educated, compassionate, articulate students to the world. Diocesan priests, deacons, sisters and lay men and women constitute the well-rounded faculty and staff of the Kennedy Catholic community.

Academic Program

Accredited by the Middle States Association Commissions on Elementary and Secondary Schools, Kennedy Catholic Prep maintains college preparatory standards across its rigorous College Board Pre-AP/AP Curriculum. Ninth grade admission is granted based on performance on the Test for Admission into Catholic High Schools (TACHS). Transfer students are evaluated on the basis of academic performance and personal interviews.

Curriculum

All students are required to complete four years of theology, English, social studies, science, mathematics, physical education and three years of World Languages. In addition, students are required to complete one year of art or music studies, one year of PSAT studies, one semester of health education, and a semester of advanced writing.

Note: During the 2022-2023 school year, Kennedy Catholic discontinued the NYS Regents Curriculum
