Application Process
Acceptance into Kennedy Catholic Prep into either our Honors Pre-AP or College Prep Pre-AP programs is contingent on an applicant’s middle-school performance records and the TACHS exam results.
The process to apply for admission into Kennedy Catholic Preparatory School for a current 8th grade applicant is as follows:

Register your 8th grader to take the TACHS exam online on Friday, Friday, November 6th, 2026 at tachsinfo.com or via phone at 1-866-618-2247.

Kennedy Catholic's TACHS CODE is #311. KCPS considers all applicants whether listed as a 1st, 2nd or 3rd choice but priority given to applicants listing KCPS #311 as 1st Choice for both admission & merit scholarship.
Class of 2031: Important Applicant Reminders & Information
- Register to take the TACHS entrance exam on Friday, November 6, 2026. Registration opens on August 24th at tachsinfo.com or by calling 1-866-618-2247
- Download the TACHS Applicant Record Form at tachsinfo.com and List Kennedy Catholic Prep (TACHS Code 311) as one of your High School Choices.
- Catholic Middle School Applicants: Your Middle School will complete your Applicant Record Form & send it directly to the ADNY Education Offices.
- Public District/Private School Applicants: Ensure that your Guidance Counselor sends the Applicant Record Form with 6th, 7th & 8th grade to date records to KCPS by December 11, 2026. Attn: Mr. Brian Bruder – Admission Director
- Sign up for a TACHS PREP Class at KCPS. See CALENDAR TIMELINE below on How to Become a Gael!
- Remember to Register for one of our Open House sessions on either Oct. 18th or Oct 29th and pick a day for your 8th grader to be a Gael for a Day at our Inquiry Form HERE.
The President John F. Kennedy Courage & Compassion Merit-Based Scholarship
Receipt of one of our four levels of this prestigious academic scholarship will be based on an applicant’s level of achievement on the November 6, 2026 TACHS exam and their middle school academic records in comparison to the entire applicant pool.
TACHS results are sent directly to Kennedy Catholic Prep in mid-December.

Financial Information
Tuition for the 2026-2027 school year is $12,425, payable directly to FACTS (A Nelnet Company) along with all other academic related fees. Please be advised that the Tuition, General School Fee, Registration Fee, iPad Fee, Student Activity Fees, AP Fee and FACTS tuition account set up fee are payable online through FACTS Tuition Management Company. Kennedy Catholic Scholarships
Kennedy Catholic offers several academic scholarships to incoming students. To be eligible for these scholarships, prospective students must take the Test for Admission into Catholic High Schools (TACHS) entrance exam. The TACHS entrance exam is the scholarship exam for Kennedy Catholic. There are two categories of merit-based scholarship awards:
- The President’s Scholarship is a four-year, full tuition scholarship offered to entering eighth grade students who are the top achievers on the TACHS entrance exam, and have the academic record and teacher recommendations reflective of their high scholastic ability.
- The President’s Scholarship award is renewed each year, provided the student maintains a cumulative academic average of 92% or better, and maintains a positive and responsible presence within the Kennedy Catholic community.
- The Trustee’s Scholarship is an award of $4,000-to-$16,000 over four years ($1,000-to-$4,000 per year) and is awarded to those students who are the top performers on the TACHS entrance exam, and have the academic record and teacher recommendations reflective of their high scholastic ability.
- The Trustee’s Scholarship award is renewed each year, provided the student maintains a cumulative academic average of 92% or better, and maintains a positive and responsible presence within the Kennedy Catholic community.
Tuition Assistance
Parent of current KCPS student
In order to be considered for a Kennedy Catholic Prep Tuition Assistance Award, the student’s family must submit a FACTS Student Aid Form each year no later than May 31st of the preceding school year.
For incoming Freshmen Applicants (Class of 2031) scheduled to take the TACHS entrance test on November 6th, 2026, an application FACTS Student Aid Form needs to be filed with FACTS management starting on November 23rd, 2026 and submitted no later than January 4th, 2027 to be considered.
Tuition Assistance Awards – individual grants can range from $1,000 to $3,000, according to your percentage ranking by need among all applicants as determined by FACTS Management. All awards granted are posted to your FACTS account by June 30th for the next school year and advised through FACTS.
These awards need to be renewed each year and the student must maintain a cumulative academic average of 80% or better and your FACTS account be current.

Dormitory Housing Option
International students at Kennedy Catholic also have the option of living in a nearby dormitory in New York.
By participating in Apex International Education Partners, LLC (APEX)’s Dormitory Program, your child will become prepared for college and beyond by living in an environment that fosters independence, responsibility, and time management. Your child will also develop important life skills, such as communication, problem-solving, and collaboration under the care of experienced residential life staff members.
Transfer students are accepted in their 9th, 10th, or 11th year. If a student is interested in transferring into Kennedy Catholic Prep he/she should make an appointment to meet with Mr. Brian Bruder by emailing him at [email protected]

Real College Credits
St. John’s University College Advantage Program
High School faculty credentials and course syllabi are approved by University Department Chairpersons.Seniors must have a minimum average of 80% (Juniors = 85%) and a combined math and critical reading SAT score of 1000. Students may enroll in up to 9 credits per semester. Tuition is $250 / semester course, and credit is transferable to many other institutions with a “C” or better in the course. (Students who enroll in St. John’s University receive a $2,000 tuition grant for each of the four years of their undergraduate study.) Currently eight courses are offered, and one is pending.
